Natural Killer (NK) cells distinguish target cells from surrounding healthy tissue by integrating signals from a variety of activating and inhibitory receptors. Abeyweera et al. develop a technique to photoactivate inhibitory receptors and reveal that inhibitory signaling limits NK cell activity by remodeling contacts with potential targets and inducing NK cell retraction.
Download our Journal Club pack to aid your discussion of Abeyweera et al.’s study, and its implications for NK cell signal integration. The pack includes a complete pdf of the paper, a PowerPoint file of Abeyweera et al.’s figures, supplementary videos, and the latest biosights video podcast, which features an interview with the study’s senior author, Morgan Huse (Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY).
