The Drosophila heart is a simple tubular structure with a central lumen. Vogler et al. reveal that the small GTPase Cdc42 and actin-nucleating formin proteins promote lumen formation by regulating the dynamics of non-muscle myosin in cardioblasts during heart morphogenesis.
Download our journal club pack to aid your discussion of Vogler et al.’s study and its implications for cell shape and lumen formation. The pack includes a complete pdf of the paper, a PowerPoint file of Vogler et al.’s figures, supplemental videos, and the latest biosights video podcast, which features an interview with two of the paper’s authors, Georg Vogler and Rolf Bodmer (Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, La Jolla, CA).
